- strange. i find it odd that your modem would work fine under kermit,
- for example, but would "fail miserably" when firing up a slip
- connection. it's hard to tell from your post, but my guess is that
- the problem is with your slip setup rather than you modem. are you
- using dip to run the slip connection? take a look at the manpage
- and at the documentation that comes with it. my advice is to first try
- and get the thing running "manually" (i.e. don't use a dip script
- but use dip interactively to setup the connection). i believe the
- documentation (or the manpage) explains how to do this and it is
- relatively straightforward. also, you do need to have both tcp/ip and
- slip (and cslip if you want to use it) support in your kernel. you
- probably do, but since you don't say i can't be sure. if it helps
- any, i have the exact same modem set to com1, irq4 and i works fine
- with slip. must say though that i've never tried a "standard" comm
- program with it ;) ...but yes, check out the dip documentation. i believe
- you should find a solution there.
